Episode 31. The Theme for this show is ‘Baba Guru Nanak and Islam’. This is truly a unique and enlightening show providing a unique insight of this topic through poetry. When we look at the life of Baba Guru Nanak’s life, it becomes obvious that he was deeply influenced by Islamic teachings. He also spoke in poetry and his poetical writings (which is called Gurbani by Sikhs) have been composed into hymns, and when we read these, we find it has so many similarities with the teachings of Islam. We shall be exploring the Mul Mantar, which is the fundamental prayer about ‘Ik onkar’ the 'One God', and which is mostly the writings of Baba Guru Nanak and is considered the comprehensive essence of Sikhism. It is the first part of the Japji Sahib scripture which is the opening verse of the Guru Granth Sahib holy book. Sikhism believe in the Unity of God, in the one-ness of God, just like Muslims, and we shall be looking closer at the similarities in the attributes of God in Sikhism with the attributes of God in Islam. We shall hear another devotional Sikh song which glorifies this particular attribute of God - Waheguru. The Janamsakhis are legendary biographies of Baba Guru Nanak. A reading of the Janam Sakhis also makes it clear that his teachings and practices were nearer to the Islamic faith, and we find the Kalima has been given the greatest stress in Janam Sakhi, which we shall hear. The Promised Messiah (peace be upon him) Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, the founder of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, wrote a book on Sikhism which was entitled Satt Bachan, and we shall be hearing the English version of a portion of a Poem which was written by the Promised Messiah (peace be upon him) in 1895 which was on the cloak of Baba Guru Nanak. Episode 37. Everyone agrees that China’s rise and transformation over the last few decades has been absolutely amazing. Napoleon had once remarked about China “Let her sleep, for when she wakes she will shake the world”. It seems China has re-awakened, and it is making its presence being felt all around the world. When we look at the overall recorded history of the world, which goes back several thousand years, Asia has been the most important region of the world. For nearly two thousand years, until the mid-1800s, China, and India, were the biggest economies of the world. In many ways the last 200 years of European dominance have been an aberration. Human civilisations and nations are like living organisms, they have life cycles. Some evolve into new nations and cultures and some totally disappear from the face of the globe. China represents a large nation and a civilisation, which has gone through several cycles and has had many ups and downs. China is the only ancient civilisation to fall down several times and rise again to enter the modern world. One of the most important distinguishing features of China is that it is a civilisational state, unlike many other states in the world. For about two and a half thousand years there has been a Chinese nation using a Chinese language. China has had a continuing experience of civilisation rivalled in duration only by that of ancient Egypt. Dr Mohammed Iqbal the host of Living History will explore the rich history of China in a four part programme with his panelists Arif Ahmed and Yousaf Aftab. This is part 4 of this 4 part series, which will cover the rise of Modern China after the end of the Qing dynasty in 1912 and how it became an economic powerhouse.

Episode 34. The Theme for this show is ‘Jesus and Islam’. The prophet Jesus (peace be upon him) is mentioned at numerous places throughout the Holy Quran, so, if you really love Jesus, and want to know more about him, then you need to read about him in the Holy Quran, as without reading about him in this most widely read book on Earth, you can never really say that you know him. The first poem come from the inspiring words of sister Faiza Kiran with her poem titled ‘The Game of Trinity’, and share the true teachings of Jesus and his belief in the one God. The second poem is actually a Christian hymn, and a Hymn for that matter which happens also to be the most famous Hymn of all times. "Amazing Grace" was published in 1779 by the English Anglican clergyman and poet John Newton and is without a doubt the most famous of all the Christian and secular folk hymns, with a message that forgiveness and redemption are possible regardless of sins committed and that the soul can be delivered from despair through the mercy of God. The Third poem is from the acclaimed poet Furqan Mehmud from Fitchburg, Massachusetts in the USA with his poem on the Prophet Jesus (peace be upon him) titled - Eli Eli Lama Sabakh thani. And just by way of introduction, this poem is based around his final whilst words on the cross, where he cried with a loud voice ““Eli, Eli, lama sabakh thani” which means, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” (Mark 15:34) The fourth poem may come to many as a bit of a shock. Why? Because there is quite a lot to take on, and the evidence quoted stands on solid rock. Eloquently written and presented by the acclaimed poet Dr Bushra Khan with her poem titled: “Jesus Christ, son of Mary”. The final poem was written by Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, the Promised Messiah. The Messiah that was expected to follow the messenger of Allah, the Holy Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) and that would revive Islam, and to bring back the lost teachings of the pure Islam, just as Jesus’s mission was to bring back the lost teachings of the Prophet Moses (peace be upon him). This poem was originally written in Urdu, and the English translation is presented which provides just an essence of the original poetical gems. The poem is titled: “Death of Jesus of Nazareth”.

Phoenix of Al-Andalus: The Divine Return of Islam In our second episode of this 2-part documentary we trace the spiritual rebirth of Islam in Spain — not through conquest, but through compassion, prayer, and prophecy. From the golden age of Al-Andalus to the silence following the fall of Granada in 1492, this episode captures centuries of loss, longing, and divine promise. It follows the sacred journey from the prophetic words of the Holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺ to the revival sparked by the Promised Messiah, Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (as), in the East, and carried westward by devoted pioneers like Chaudhry Fateh Muhammad Sial and Maulana Karam Ilahi Zafar. With the historic establishment of the Basharat Mosque in 1982, the first since the Reconquista, and the continued visits and guidance of Khilafat, the documentary unveils a quiet revolution: a return not of empire, but of faith. Through heartfelt interviews and historical narration, this documentary reveals how Ahmadiyyat has become Spain’s hidden heartbeat — the long-lost verse now restored to the melody of its soul. It is a tale of divine love rekindled, a prophecy fulfilled, and a dawn that, once risen, shall never set again.”
